Advocacy - For Yourself And Others (AKA How to Game the System)
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Becoming your own self-advocate as a trans-identified person is essential to obtaining quality health care, and getting the essential agency supports for transition, wellness, and just being able to thrive. There are countless horror stories where many in the transgender community have encountered barriers that seemingly are insurmountable. Some of those stories were exacerbated by the lock-downs and quarantines necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the biases and cancellations by the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in DC. However, as we know well, denying necessary services to the transgender community has been a way of doing business for far too long. The goal of this presentation is to identify ways to make your individual path to authenticity free of roadblocks and then help others overcome their speed-bumps as well

AFAB - Top Surgery Show and Tell Pool Party

Affirmation Without Harm: Gender Euphoria, Disordered Eating, and Ethical Treatment with Trans and Gender-Diverse Clients
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.
LCSW CE
This workshop qualifies for Continuing Education Credit for Licensend Counselors & Social Workers

Transgender and gender-diverse individuals experience disproportionately high rates of disordered eating and eating disorders, often shaped by intersecting experiences of gender dysphoria, minority stress, body surveillance, and limited access to affirming care. While much of the clinical literature has centered on alleviating dysphoria, emerging research and community-informed practice highlight the protective and therapeutic role of gender euphoria—the felt sense of affirmation, comfort, and joy in one’s gendered experience. This workshop explores how gender euphoria can function as both a buffer against disordered eating behaviors and, at times, a complicating factor when attempts to modify the body intersect with restriction, over-exercise, or compensatory behaviors. Presenters will examine how disordered eating may develop or intensify in pursuit of gender affirmation, particularly when desired physical changes are constrained by biological, financial, medical, or sensory limitations. Special attention will be given to clinical work with neurodivergent trans and gender-diverse clients, for whom common affirming practices (e.g., binders, tucking, long hair, certain clothing textures) may introduce sensory distress rather than relief. The workshop will also address self-of-the-therapist considerations, including clinicians’ emotional responses to persistent dysphoria, perceived loss of functioning related to hormonal or surgical interventions, and the ethical tension between affirmation and harm reduction. Through case examples, clinical frameworks, and evidence-based discussion, participants will leave with practical strategies to support embodied care that promotes gender euphoria without reinforcing disordered eating patterns—while sustaining therapist attunement, humility, and resilience. AI and The Transgender Community. It's Worse (and Better) Than You Thought
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Artificial intelligence as it is generally understood...is generally misunderstood. Right now, AI is in the peak of hype. It is often treated as the savior of the planet or the end of life on earth. As we have learned from other technologies-- the personal computer, the consumer-facing Internet, social media, ubiquitous smart-phones-- the likeliest outcomes are somewhere along a continuum. That is, some good things will happen, as will some bad things. Mostly, things we never considered at all will become routine. The purposes of this seminar will be to unwind some of the hype, de-mystify what's at the root of AI as most us encounter it, and to consider what sorts of things that might affect the transgender community in the next three to five years.

All Are Welcome - Or Are They?
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Every church pats itself on the back by exclaiming that All Are Welcome! But the truth is, this simply three-word statement holds different meanings at different churches. Some, for example, welcome transgender people but will try hard to rehabilitate them through conversion therapy. Others welcome transgender people, but limit the extent to which they can become personally engaged. Inclusive or affirming churches, on the other hand, welcome transgender people fully. In this workshop we will explore the differences in these various kinds of churches, and will discuss red flags that you can use to locate a truly welcoming church in your own community. Participants will have access to the church finder tool developed by Mother Grace specifically for LGBTQ people. The church finder includes just about every Christian denomination. As a former military chaplain, Mother Grace is well versed in all churches.

Anti-Trans Legislation - What Is It Really All About and How Do We Combat It?

In this workshop you will get the deeper story of why a small group of legislators and political operatives are pushing these bills. We will then dive into a discussion regarding tactics that have been successfully used to combat these bills and how you can get involved.

Ask a Spouse/SO
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

This panel of spouses/significant others (SO's) provides an opportunity for transgender individuals to ask questions regarding relationships, feelings, and emotions. The panel can also act as a sounding board for conversations that a transgender person may want to have with their spouse/significant other. The SO's on this panel have asked their transgender spouses to not be in the room to provide an open and honest forum. This workshop may be able to offer perspective and insight on how your journey affects the ones you love.

Avoiding Anti-Trans Violence
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Violence against the transgender community is at an all-time high and continues to grow. In 2025 there were 281 murders of trans persons worldwide and 27 in the United States. In 2025, There were more than 1018 new anti LGBTQ bills filed across the United States with at least 124 of those being passed. Hate and the associated violence against us continues to grow unabated. To avoid the rise in anti-trans violence, it is important to be able to identify attackers before they are close enough to hurt us. Behavioral detection allows us to identify potentially violent people and scenarios far enough in advance to avoid them. Behavioral detection can be used to identify both interpersonal violence and attacks on the locations that gather. This presentation will cover typical behavioral cues, pre-attack indicators, and evaluating behavior. We will discuss how to develop plans to escape and evade once you have identified a potentially violent individual.

Beyond Hair Removal: Skin Health & Gender Affirmation Without Injectables
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Gender affirmation doesn’t stop at removing hair. Many people also want support with acne, discoloration, redness, scars, or texture changes that can affect how they see themselves. This workshop introduces non-injectable skin and laser treatments that can help without relying on fillers or Botox. We will explain devices such as laser skin resurfacing, microneedling, acne laser therapy, and vascular/pigment lasers in clear, beginner-friendly language, including what they do, what to expect, and how to plan treatment timelines. We will also cover pre- and post-care, safety across different skin tones, and how these treatments can support gender euphoria and authenticity. We will reserve time at the end for questions. This session is trauma-informed, dysphoria-aware, and designed for anyone exploring skin options for gender affirmation. Presented by Jill Sherman and Emma Schutte, co-owners of Luma Laser and Electrolysis located in Lancaster, PA.

Beyond Survival: Reclaiming Your Life When Everything Changes
11:00 AM on Fri, Mar 20 in Metropolitan A

When life changes in ways you didn’t choose, or didn’t expect, it’s easy to slip into survival mode. Many people connected to the transgender community experience this, including their partners, family members, friends, allies, and caregivers whose own lives are quietly reshaped by transition, growth, and profound change.

This heart-centered visioning workshop is an open invitation to anyone navigating life after a major shift. You’ll be guided to pause and reflect on what has changed for you, what you’ve been carrying, and what parts of yourself may have gone quiet along the way.

Through gentle reflection and practical visioning tools, you’ll begin to reconnect with what matters most and create a personal vision that feels authentic, grounded, and alive. This is not about fixing anything or having a five-year plan, it’s about moving beyond survival and remembering that your life still gets to feel like yours.

Come as you are. Leave with clarity, self-compassion, and a renewed sense of possibility for what comes next.

Bills, Bans, and Best Practice: Clinical Decision-Making for Affirming Providers

Across the U.S., legislative proposals and policy changes increasingly shape what gender-affirming care looks like in schools, healthcare systems, and families’ daily lives. For counselors and medical providers, the challenge is twofold: (1) staying oriented to how proposed or enacted policies impact client functioning, and (2) responding in ways that are ethical, clinically sound, and sustainable for providers. This session reviews the most common categories of gender-related bills and policy actions affecting TGNC people (participants will be provided a bill-tracking worksheet to populate with state and federal examples), then translates these realities into clinical practice: assessment and documentation, care coordination, maintaining access pathways, addressing fear and identity threat, and supporting families navigating systems. The session closes with strategies to reduce provider moral injury and burnout while maintaining effective advocacy and professional boundaries.

Blue Monday- Going Home from Your First Conference
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

All good things come to an end, even Keystone. After living your dreams for a week, those who are not out full-time may often find "the end" stunningly traumatic. We return to our homes, jobs, loved ones, and closets with a heavy heart, tears, sometimes deep depression. This workshop gives first timers (and others) skills on how to duck the worst traumas by treating ourselves well afterwards, staying in contact with friends we meet at Keystone, planning treats to look forward to, and applying bunches of additional ideas gathered over the years from sisters facing their own Blue Mondays.

Building Your Coming Out Plan

Whether you call it "coming out" or "inviting in", the process of disclosing your transgender/nonbinary identity can feel intimidating. But You Lied To Me - A Way to Explore the Emotions (SOs Only)
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

This seminar is designed to help the SO process their emotional response to a spouse’s presenting in the opposite gender or their stated intention to transition. In the community, your presenter has heard from some SOs that they felt lied to, betrayed or were kept in the dark with regard to their loved one’s gender identity or desire to dress. The feelings are more intense if the partner was ‘found out’ rather than if they had disclosed on their own. However, even when the partner makes a disclosure, it is still often a jarring experience for the SO. This presentation is meant to assist with these feelings by examining them, and then offering some coping skills to allow the SO to process the potential changes in the relationship, potentially find the possibilities of good outcomes and also to offer a space with only SOs, which will allow free expression without needing to edit.

Conscious Communication Within The LGBTQ+ Community
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

The definitions of words are always changing, which has an effect on how we speak and interact with one another over time. Additionally, it fosters a new level of awareness where we must be mindful of the words, phrases, and sentences we use that might elicit strong emotions in other people. Remember that just because we do not find a word, phrase, or sentence offensive, it doesn't mean that someone else won't find it offensive as well. In order to improve and impact relationships, I want to diversify the ways in which communication is delivered, create a safe space where clear, conscious communication can occur without ambiguity, and implement positive changes that are effectively reinforced.

Could NYC be the Transgender Utopian Playland for Living Your Best Transgender Life?
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

In this presentation we will present why NYC has become the go-to place for the transgender community to live/move forward their Transgender development. In specific we will cover in detail: Some of the strongest legal protections in the country for gender identity and gender expression, from housing to employment, health care and other numerous explicit protections for our community in NYC. As a consequence of NYC’s strong insurance coverage laws an extensive network of Transgender health care providers with trans-specific programs ranging from gender-affirming primary care thru GRS post-op care and every step in between, are all available regardless of income level. NYC in general, and Hell’s Kitchen in specific is one of the safest places in the nation for the transgender community to live as a result of its huge LGBTQ+ community, NYC’s “live and let live” attitude along with NYPD’s well documented commitment to protecting our community - especially in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. Housing - despite popular mis-conception finding a place to live, and live nicely is very do-able in the city as a result of strong tenant laws, reduced income housing opportunities, as well as well as very favorable employment compensation levels.. Job Opportunities -NYC hosts many of the largest companies, nonprofits, arts institutions, and tech firms, each having excellent Inclusive hiring policies, Equal-benefit structures, and Trans-friendly workplace cultures. Manhattan’s spectacular social and nightlife scenes — where diversity is not just supported, but celebrated. From getting compliments walking down the street, shopping at our major dept stores, restaurants that greet you not just as a customer but as a good friend, a very strong night club scene/speak-easy/rooftop bar scene, as well as a constant of flow of major performing acts, assure that you will not be bored. Perhaps most importantly we will also spend time detailing NYC's relative ease with respect to developing meaningful friendships. You will have friends. In short, if you are transgender this presentation will detail why you may wish to make NYC your next home.

Doing the Work of Becoming: How Action Builds Identity and Confidence for Trans Women
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

For many trans women, imposter syndrome isn’t just an occasional doubt, it can be a constant whisper that questions our validity, our belonging, and whether we’re “enough.” Yet one of the most powerful ways we quiet that voice is through participation, by stepping into activities that call forth the woman we know ourselves to be. This workshop explores how taking part in affirming, embodied, and community-based activities helps us overcome imposter syndrome and solidify our identity as women. Whether it’s lacing up for roller derby, showing up consistently to health club classes, or joining community engagement groups, these experiences do far more than fill our schedules, they actively build our sense of self. Through personal examples, we’ll look at how courage grows from repetition, how confidence emerges from alignment, and how identity becomes real through lived experience. Participants will reflect on the environments that have helped them feel most authentically themselves, examine the beliefs that hold them back, and discover how choosing growth-oriented activities can reshape internal narratives. This session blends inspiration with practical insight, helping you recognize that identity isn’t something you wait for; it’s something you create through action. When trans women place us in spaces that affirm who we are, imposter syndrome loses its grip and our identity has room to take root, strengthen, and shine.

Dual Gender, Gender Fluid, Non-Binary or Full Time? Where Do You Fit Under The Transgender Umbrella? Let's Talk About It.
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Not sure where you fit? Let's talk about it. There are no definitions, the only valid definition is the one you create!!! The transgender community is a beautiful bouquet of labels and identities. How do you know where you belong, and which is the right path for you? Do you align with the idea of being binary but struggle with enjoying the duality of being male and female? Do you connect less with being binary and feel more gender fluid or non-binary? Are you living a dual gender life voluntarily or because you feel you can't or shouldn't transition? In this open group discussion, led by Lisa Smith, all attendees are welcome and urged to contribute their feelings and questions with the group in their journey of self-discovery in an effort to help YOU figure out where you fit.

Growing Trans+ Representation on LGBTQ+ Center Boards
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

This interactive workshop addresses the low representation of transgender individuals on LGBTQ+ community center boards. The 2024 Community Center Survey, prepared by CenterLink and the Movement Advancement Project, found that only 10% of LGBTQ community center board members identified as transgender. The survey compiled feedback from over 200 active organizations across the US. This figure was down from 16%, as compared with their 2022 survey. In this workshop, we will explore the reasons behind this trend, including the difficulties in recruiting and retaining transgender board members, consider a case study highlighting the experiences of a trans+ former center board member, and open a discussion into how we can encourage greater trans+ community involvement in LGBTQ+ center leadership. We encourage attendees to come prepared with thoughts, experiences, and ideas to share!

Human Rights Under Pressure: Genocidal Risk Factors and Transgender Lives in America: What Families, Allies, and Communities Can Do Now
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Across the United States, transgender people are facing increased legislative attacks, loss of civil rights, targeted violence, and public dehumanization. This workshop helps parents, allies, and community members understand human-rights frameworks (including UN definitions of “crime against humanity” and “genocidal risk factors”), recognize early warning signs, build community safety networks, and prepare strategically—legally, emotionally, and politically.

This session is grounded in research, history, and rights-based advocacy. The goal is empowerment, resilience, and collective action.

Trans communities in the U.S. are experiencing an unprecedented wave of legislation targeting healthcare, identity documents, school access, public accommodations, and speech about gender. International human-rights organizations—including the United Nations—track specific patterns to identify when a group is at risk: dehumanizing rhetoric, targeted legal restrictions, forced outing, family separation threats, denial of medical care, and criminalization of existence. This workshop uses those established frameworks to explain:
  • How to recognize early-stage human-rights violations.
  • What “genocidal risk factors” mean in an international legal sense.
  • Why trans communities are increasingly at risk.
  • What families and community members can do right now to build safety, political power, and preparedness.
  • Understand UN-recognized risk factors for mass atrocity and how they apply to current U.S. trends.
Participants will leave with clear tools to advocate locally, protect loved ones, prepare for crisis scenarios, and strengthen community resilience—while staying focused on hope, agency, and long-term change.

The session concludes with a Q&A with the filmmaker, offering space for connection and shared understanding.

Jennifer Marie and her partner co-lead this seminar through an honest, grounded conversation about kink, power dynamics, desire, and comfort zones, all framed through trust, communication, consent, and emotional safety. Drawing from lived experience, they explore how curiosity and self-awareness can be empowering rather than shame-filled.

The title makes reference to the frequent assertion that being transgender is not natural. Statements such as, "it goes against the laws of nature," reflect a lack of understanding of sexual expression in the natural world. This raises the question, what do sex and gender really mean from a scientific perspective? This workshop will explore how the sexes differ, how they are similar, and how sexual expression and gender identity are more naturally viewed as a broad range of forms and behaviors. We will examine mechanisms of sex determination and development, including the roles of chromosomes, genes, hormones, the environment, and their interactions. The extreme diversity of sexual expression in nature provides the basis for understanding, just what is natural?

In American culture, grief is often stigmatized, misunderstood, & treated as “taboo” within many conversations. LGBTQ+ Americans face unique barriers to grieving, including disenfranchised grief, unaccepting community members, & failure for the media to accurately report the dead’s identity. This presentation seeks to destigmatize grief by discussing how to move *with* grief, not past it, (as much of American society often expects individuals/communities to) including common manifestations of grief, resources, & finding community after a loved one’s passing. The presenter, a non-binary individual, will describe their own experiences with grief to humanize & create awareness of the complications of mourning in the LGBTQ+ community. Advocacy work as a means of moving with grief is also discussed. This workshop is heavily discussion-based, & attendees are encouraged to discuss their own experiences & ideologies related to grief as they feel comfortable doing so. Participants will leave with a comprehensive resource list & understanding of how grief is shaped by being part of the LGBTQ+ community, alongside general coping mechanisms & common manifestations of mourning.

In working with this community, your presenter has found that discussions often focus on the needs of the transitioning transgender individual, somewhat exclusive to the needs of the relationship with a partner. This seminar will turn the focus to the relationship between the transgender person and their spouse or significant other. Transition is a very difficult time for any couple, and can lead to the loss of the relationship. Your presenter does not believe that this has to be the inevitable outcome and hopes to offer her experience teaching communications skills as a therapist, her experience with her late spouse Jude during transition, and that of friends and acquaintances who have gone through transition of a partner, in the hope that others can find these skills and experiences useful. Aspects discussed includes "couples' transition" and skills in the use of language and negotiation, managing expectations and maintaining open lines of communication. These approaches are proven techniques in couples counseling and can help when facing difficult experiences. Please come join us for discussions and exercises that can help bring a new perspective to the power of language and negotiation.

Showing Up Anyway: Emotional Labor, Visibility, and Survival As a Transgender Person in Higher Education
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.
LCSW CE
This workshop qualifies for Continuing Education Credit for Licensend Counselors & Social Workers

Higher education institutions often celebrate diversity while remaining structurally unprepared to support transgender people, particularly in an increasingly hostile political climate that targets trans lives. This presentation explores the intertwined realities of “showing up” as a transgender person in academic spaces not built for us and the emotional labor that visibility requires. Drawing from lived experience, the session examines how everyday academic practices require trans individuals to perform care work, education, and self-regulation to remain safe and provide support. In the current political moment, this labor is intensified by external scrutiny, public rhetoric, and policy debates that enter classrooms, campuses, and interpersonal interactions. Emotional labor becomes embedded in visibility itself: managing fear and fatigue, responding to misinformation, supporting students navigating uncertainty, and maintaining credibility under heightened surveillance. Rather than framing these experiences as individual resilience, the presentation situates them within institutional structures that rely on trans labor while failing to address the conditions that produce harm. Participants will be invited to reflect on how academic norms around professionalism, neutrality, and availability operate during times of political backlash, shaping whose labor is recognized and whose is rendered invisible. This session centers transgender experience while offering insight for anyone navigating marginalization, care work, and sustainability in higher education during periods of social and political hostility.

That Ain't Christian
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Evangelical and many mainline Protestant churches are bleeding...members that is! America's Christian majority is shrinking and could dip below 50% by 2070. In the US, the Christian majority has been shrinking for decades. A Pew Research Center study shows that as of 2020, only about 64% of Americans identify as Christian, in contrast, 50 years ago, that number was 90%. Young people comprise the group shrinking the most, with two-thirds (66 percent) of American young adults who attended a Protestant church regularly for at least a year as a teenager say they dropped out for at least a year between the ages of 18 and 22, according to a new study from Nashville-based Lifeway Research. There are any number of reasons, but likely topping the list is hypocrisy...people talking the talk as opposed to walking the walk. Not to be overlooked is the current Evangelical embrace of "Christian Nationalism" and its roots in racism and obvious prejudice directed to other marginalized people groups as well. This workshop will attempt to provide evidence that the Founders had every intention of keeping religion out of politics as well as provide attendees with a glimmer of hope for our future.

The Dads: Fatherhood, Advocacy, and Love in a Shifting Landscape
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

In a time of heightened political polarization and increasing legislative attacks on LGBTQ+ youth, The Dads—the Emmy Award-winning Netflix short directed by Luchina Fisher and executive produced by Dwyane Wade—offers a powerful lens into the hearts and minds of fathers raising gender-expansive children. This 75-minute panel brings together several of the film’s featured fathers for an honest, emotionally resonant conversation about the joys and challenges of parenting in today’s climate. With raw authenticity and hard-earned wisdom, these dads will share their personal journeys, explore how love reshaped their understanding of masculinity and fatherhood, and discuss how they’ve channeled fear into advocacy. Set against the backdrop of increasing anti-trans legislation and rhetoric, this conversation will not only explore the deeply personal but also the profoundly political—examining what it means to stand up for your child when the world pushes back. This in-person session will include a facilitated panel discussion, interactive audience prompts, and an open Q&A to foster meaningful exchange and solidarity. Attendees will leave with a renewed sense of community, actionable ways to advocate, and a deeper understanding of the courage it takes to parent out loud.

There is a growing amount of research indicating a co-occurrence of Autism and transgender/gender non-conforming identities. Research has also shown disparities in Autism diagnosis based on gender or gender expression. This workshop will discuss how gender and Autism interact and how it impacts interventions when supporting transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. Participants will be introduced to the neurodiversity paradigm through a mental health lens and how it applies to health providers.

  3. Ways the community can improve inclusivity and language to not exclude masculine identities.

The Maleficent Seven - How to Handle the Clobber Passages
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Bible-thumping bigots and haters use seven very specific Bible passages in their attempts to prove that people like you and me will rot and burn in Hell. We call them the "clobber passages" because they are used to clobber us. Four of them are from the Old Testament (Genesis 1:29, Genesis 19, Leviticus 18:22, and Deuteronomy 23:17-18), and three are from the New Testament (Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9, and 1 Timothy 1:10).

The sad reality is that their understanding of what the holy scriptures really say is way off base. Anti-LGBTQ people cling to an incorrect understanding of what those passages actually mean. This incorrect understanding comes from centuries of bias that have found their way into Bible translation and instruction over time.

In this session we will explore each of these passages, considering their history, context, and original meaning. An accurate understanding of these passages actually affirms the fact that LGBTQ people are part of God's design for the beauty that is humanity.

Please note that it is typically impossible to argue with bigots and haters. The purpose of this session is not to provide defense in debate, but rather simply to set your own mind at ease when you find yourself on the receiving end of such hateful rhetoric.

The Ones We’re Closest to Are Sometimes the Hardest to Reach
3:30 PM on Fri, Mar 20 in Leland

Back by popular demand! How to talk to our family about our transition. Maintaining healthy communication with family members is a tough dynamic at the best of times, but when a lifelong identity has changed the dynamics of the group shift on many levels and from different perspectives. We will identify strategies to help maintain open communication to avoid the frustration, anger, and pain that can divide us. We will also talk about how to tailor your “coming out”, or discussions about gender, with different members of your family, realizing that different relationships require different approaches.

The Power of the Pronoun and the Science Behind It
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

This interactive workshop takes a scientific approach to understanding the power and complexity of pronouns. For the transgender community, a single word can trigger the brain to produce a flood of emotions: The Pronoun. Correct pronoun usage is not only validating, but studies have also linked the pronoun to gender euphoria and the release of oxytocin, a hormone promoting love, trust, and attachment. However, it is not an easy task getting people to use correct pronouns. The brain is complex. Engrained thought and recognition patterns are difficult to change. Neuroscience could explain why supportive professionals, friends, and loved ones often forget the correct pronoun and continuously struggle to get it right.

Transgender in Sobriety
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Substance and behavioral addictions very often spring from abuse and adversity while growing up. We addicts often seek the quick pleasures of alcohol and other substances (legal or illegal), sex, overeating, etc, to overcome the chronic pain in our lives and emotions caused by such abuse. Whatever the "more usual" forms of abuse my befall us as we grow up, we of TGNC experience also have the additional burden of negative reactions from those around us -- parents, siblings, "friends", teachers, employers, authority and from society in general -- heaped upon us. This makes it even more likely that we will end up as addicts than the population as a whole. This workshop will present ways in which persons of TGNC experience have successfully halted their addictions, have stayed stopped, and have dealt with the destruction caused by our addictions. Particular emphasis will be placed on (but not limited to) the 12-Step fellowships such as Alcoholics Anonymous because, well, they are anonymous thus limiting or eliminating any repercussions which might be directed at us, they are free of charge, plus they are widely available as in-person support. and available as continuous support -- 24/7 -- via Zoom. Thus freed from the destruction of addiction, we are able to better deal with (or deal at all with) life in general and the extra burdens of our TGNC lives.

Transgender in the Scriptures
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Much of the animus towards the LGBT and specifically transgender community is based upon Religious Teachings from the Scriptures. While the Scriptures can be interpreted in many ways partly because there are words in the scriptures which we just do not know their actual meaning, we have to infer their meaning from a context that we think existed at the time but are not sure. This issue is analogous to our Constitution; we keep running into questions as to what the text of the Constitution actually means and that's why we have a Supreme Court to opine on how to interpret such. And different Judges with different backgrounds and values don't always interpret it the same way. So, if we can't always agree on what a document written in English only a couple of hundred years ago means, then who can definitively say what Scriptures says about LGBT issues? Indeed, that's partly why some religious denominations are accepting, and others are not

If you want to be comfortable that the Scriptures didn't leave trans people out or want arguments to refute the non-accepting, this is the right session to attend. I have updated it with new source material and I think you will leave with a greater appreciation of how you are included in the Bible even if it's hammered home that you don't.

No prior religious background is needed and agnostics and atheists are encouraged to attend to be better allies.

Transgender Personalities in History (from the 15th Century through the 1860s)
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Since humankind began to define the boundaries of gender behavior, there have been people who have defied or crossed over those boundaries. Hear about some of these individuals, from the 15th century through the 1860s. Some of them were male to female, others of them were female to male. Some of them lived as transgender for most of their lives, others for only brief but significant periods in their lives. The deeds of some of these people have inspired books, plays, movies, and even operas. All of them left a legacy of some sort, including a United States military installation being renamed to honor one of them. Although this seminar has been presented before, Melissa changes the roster of historical figures presented each time she does this seminar. Brief biographies of each individual profiled are available upon request.

Transgenderism Throughout Human History
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

I propose to conduct a workshop that looks at gender fluidity throughout the history of us, homo Sapiens. I'm confident that trans people have existed in one form or another throughout antiquity. I envision tracing back in time by showing examples of where gender roles were reversed compared with today, taking a look at matriarchy societies, reminding how common it was for men to wear wigs in the 18th century, and more. I also would augment the presentation with examples of how transgendered individuals are recognized in various cultures and societies today—perhaps in some unexpected ways. Maybe I could throw in examples of how even the animal kingdom blurs the gender lines. It is very likely that a PowerPoint slideshow will guide the discussion and provide some visual interest. I also think a fun game, perhaps a Trans Jeopardy (I wouldn't use that name due to trademark worries) and a lively in room discussion with the audience would liven things up as well. Thanks Heather

Transmasculine Makeup Workshop
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Are you a transmasculine person who wants to learn how to use makeup as a gender affirming tool and develop techniques to enhance the masculine aspects of your gender presentation? Have you struggled with associating makeup with performative femininity and/or trauma related to societal expectations for AFAB people? Do you want to heal trauma around makeup, making it YOUR tool to use when and how you see fit? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this workshop is for you! Transmasculine people often have a complex relationship with makeup, because AFAB people in our society are often socialized into performative femininity, from a young age. Clothing choices, hair styles, the colors one wears, and the type and style of makeup are all part of a culture that defines femininity by what one does and how one presents. Terms such as “tomboy” are often used to, at the very least, imply that the person is not acting in a “ladylike” manner, or according to societal expectations for the gender assigned at birth. Many times it is used in outright disparaging ways that demean a specific individual or group of individuals who behave or present in a way that does not conform to their assigned gender. While not everyone who doesn’t conform to gender stereotypes is transgender, transmasculine and non-binary individuals may have trauma around things such as makeup if they feel like society forced it on them. Conversely, makeup can also serve as a gender affirming tool for transmasculine individuals, helping them to create the angles and facial effects that will help them to align what they see in the mirror with what they feel, and how they see themselves inside. This workshop is designed to help transmasculine people to begin healing their relationship with makeup, by helping them to see it as a gender affirming tool one can use when one chooses, without feeling like they MUST use it daily. How would you feel to see the person in the mirror look back at you with a nice 5 o'clock shadow, or a more definded or chiseled jawline? Are you ready to see who on the outside the person you are on the inside.

This workshop offers an affirming, trauma-informed exploration of eating disorders in the transgender community through both clinical understanding and mind–body yoga practices. Participants will gain insight into how societal pressures, medical gatekeeping, and internalized stigma influence relationships with food, movement, and the body. Alongside evidence-based clinical frameworks, the workshop introduces gentle, accessible yoga and mindfulness practices that support body awareness, nervous system regulation, and self-compassion—without reinforcing harmful body ideals. This session centers lived experience, cultural humility, and resilience, offering tools that honor the whole person: mind, body, and identity.

We Weren't Meant to Survive: Disrupting Healthcare Injustice
Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.
LCSW CE

This workshop explores how hostile structural design shows up in the body and offers accessible grounding tools for trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive people navigating systems that are often exhausting, invalidating, or unsafe. Blending trauma-informed facilitation, community storytelling, and brief embodiment practices, the session examines how systemic pressures, such as medical gatekeeping, discrimination, rural access gaps, and diagnostic bias can accumulate in the nervous system and shape long-term wellness. Participants will begin with a guided grounding cue to create a shared presence. From there, the workshop moves into an interactive identity-mapping exercise that highlights how intersecting identities influence our experiences in healthcare, housing, and carceral systems. Three case studies, explored in small groups, illustrate common patterns of harm such as medical dismissal, inconsistent access to affirming care, racialized misdiagnosis, punitive responses to disability and trauma, and interruptions in continuity of care. Participants will identify the systems involved, the patterns that emerge, and the impact those patterns have on the body. Building on these insights, the workshop introduces a framework for understanding advocacy fatigue as both an embodied response and a political reality. Participants will learn short, practical grounding techniques to support self-regulation during moments of overwhelm, hypervigilance, or stress. The session closes with a brief collaborative “jam” activity that invites participants to imagine community-led approaches to healing, access, and collective care. Rooted in lived expertise and public health practice, this workshop offers an affirming, accessible space for attendees to better understand how systemic stress lives in the body and to leave with concrete tools for reclaiming presence, clarity, and agency in their daily lives.

Awaiting confirmation from presenter on date/time.

Participants will explore a Red/Yellow/Green framework to pre-define verbal and physical boundaries before stressful situations arise, reducing freeze responses and hesitation. Through guided discussion, pad-based striking drills, and demonstrations of common grab escapes, participants will see how simple, decisive actions can be effective regardless of size or athletic background. The workshop also addresses the real fear many trans people carry today, offering tools to increase safety without living in constant vigilance, and highlighting the mental-health benefits of ongoing embodied practices such as martial arts, yoga, or other mindful movement.
